
Maya Luna is a small, cozy hotel on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. The second largest, living coral reef in the world passes lies of is situated just in front of the beach. It is located on the natural beaches of the Costa Maya in the south-eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Location
Hotel Maya Luna is located two miles south of the important Mexican-Caribbean cruise ship port and little fisherman’s town MAHAHUAL, now known as Puerto Costa Maya. It is a five hours drive from the closest international airport: Cancun, at 360 km (219 miles). Chetumal, at 140 km (89 miles), has a national airport with flights arriving from Mexico City.
Ownership
Maya Luna is owned by the Dutch couple Jan Schmeitz and Caroline van Santvoord. They build the place in 2003 and 2004. Jan is a former international correspondent for the Dutch national news-media. Caroline is a communication consultant and internet-designer. After a longstanding career in the Netherlands, Latin America and Africa, they decided to create a place where the guests feel at ease, where the Mexican employees gain a rewarding living and where the owners make a fair profit.
