We are a small-stream "fly only" fishing club based in Crediton, a small market town in Devon, nestled between Dartmoor and Exmoor, yet only 7 miles from Exeter.
The Club controls approximately six miles of the Rivers Creedy, Yeo and Culvery, most of which is double bank fishing. These streams have abundant fly life, including a Mayfly hatch, which, together with many terrestrials ensure superb opportunities to fish the dry fly for wild brown trout throughout most of the season. Because of our abundant trout populations, we do not need to stock our rivers, and consequently we are now one of the very few clubs in the South West to be able to offer true wild brown trout fishing.
In addition, the club also leases one and a half miles of the River Taw above Coldridge, which provides excellent sport for wild brown trout with the bonus of a run of sea-trout and the occasional salmon, and also has access to an excellent beat on the River Exe for winter grayling fishing.
In 2004 we also took a lease on a very attractive stretch of the River Culm at Willand which has provided some interesting fishing in its first two years under our stewardship
Membership is limited to 100, but most seasons we have vacancies. Visitor tickets are strictly limited. They provide temporary membership and fishing on most of our streams for one day at £15-00, or a 5 day period (Monday to Friday inclusive) at a current cost of £30-00. We also permit visitors to purchase a week-end ticket (Sat/Sun) also at £30-00. Prospective members who wish to try out the water first can discount a visitor fee from their initial membership subscription if they join in the same season. There is an online membership application to download, but it is best to e-mail first to find out if there are current vacancies, or if you have any queries about visitor tickets, or the club or the type of fishing etc.
With other local clubs opting to stock their rivers with hatchery trout in order to attract membership, our waters are now now one of the very few true wild trout fisheries in the South West.
